Agricultural Ministry Developer

The role is based out of Atlanta, GA.

The main objective of the Agricultural Ministry Developer (AMD) is to serve in the community development department of Atlanta’s disciple-making team. The AMD reports to the Agricultural Ministry Coordinator (AMC) and assists the AMC by further developing the agricultural program, maintaining partnerships, networking with potential Agricultural partners, and helping to train students enrolled in the Agricultural Specialization of the GFM’s Missionary Training School (MTS). In addition to helping cast vision and strategy for the overall direction of the agricultural program, the AMD is responsible for day-to-day management of the GFM community garden and for developing relationships with the community garden participants in a way that fosters evangelism and discipleship among this refugee population. The AMD also will help further develop the MTS Agricultural Specialization curriculum, partnerships, and the agriculture training activities as well as teach and train the Agricultural Specialization students that come through the program.


Required Qualifications


  • Must have at least one year of experience in the field of sustainable agriculture, preferably in a missions context or be willing to go through GFM’s Agricultural Missions Program.
  • Must have skills in teaching others the principles of sustainable agriculture
  • Must be able to integrate the Gospel into agricultural ministry
  • Must be able to create and maintain agricultural networking relationships
  • Must personally embrace GFM’s purpose, vision, values, and statement of faith
  • Must identify as a maturing believer in Jesus Christ with a high view of Scripture (2 Tim 3:16-17; Col 3:16-17)
  • Must demonstrate humility, teachability, and an ability to work well with others (Eph 4:15)
  • Must display advanced interpersonal relational skills and be dedicated to peacemaking (Heb 10:24-25)
  • Must function well both independently and in a team environment (1 Cor 12:25-26)
  • Must be able use or learn internal communications and technology systems (Email, Google Drive, Slack, CRM, etc.)
  • Must be willing to be a “Paul” to other “Timothys” that want to grow in missions experience by modeling, assisting, watching, and launching others into ministry
  • Must be ready to experience significant missions training and discipleship through GFM’s Missionary Training School (in person sessions or online). If someone has five years of missions experience and has received cross-cultural ministry training, only four weeks/modules of MTS is expected.
  • Highly advised to be a member or regular attender of a local church
  • Must be able to operate power tools and lift up to 40 lbs

Key Responsibilities


  • Cast vision and strategy for all GFM agricultural initiatives along with the AMC
  • Further Develop the GFM MTS Agricultural Specialization
  • Teach and Train GFM’s Agricultural students
  • Maintain and Develop GFM’s Agricultural Partnerships
  • Day-to-day management of the GFM community garden
  • Develop Gospel-centric relationships with the community gardeners
